Kimia Farma
Kimia Farma is the first pharmaceutical
industrial company in Indonesia which was founded by the Dutch East Indies
Government in 1817. The Company was founded by the Dutch East Indies Government
as the first Pharmaceutical Industry Company, under the name NV Chemicalien
Handle Rathkamp & Co. In 1971, the PNF legal entity was changed to a
Limited Liability Company so that the company name was changed to PT Kimia
Farma (Persero).
On July 4, 2001, PT Kimia Farma (Persero)
again changed its status to a public company, PT Kimia Farma (Persero) Tbk, in
the following writing it is called the Company. Along with these changes, the
Company has been listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange and the Surabaya Stock
Exchange (now both exchanges have merged and are now named the Indonesia Stock
Exchange). Armed with decades of experience, the Company has developed into a
company with integrated healthcare services in Indonesia.
The company is increasingly being reckoned
with for its role in the development and development of the nation, particularly
in the development of Indonesian people's health. Until now, there has been a
change in the name of the company from PT Kimia Farma (Persero) Tbk to PT Kimia
Farma Tbk, effective February 28, 2020.
Kimia Farma has a vision to become the
main choice healthcare company that is integrated and produces sustainable
value. As well as its mission, namely, Conducting business activities in the
fields of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, trading and distribution
networks, pharmaceutical retail and health services as well as optimizing
assets, managing the company in good corporate governance and operational
excellence supported by professional human resources, and providing added value
and benefits to all stakeholders.
With strong Research & Development
support, the business segment managed by this holding company produces finished
and traditional medicines, iodine, quinine and its derivative products, as well
as vegetable oils. Five production facilities spread across major cities in
Indonesia are the backbone of the industrial segment.
The Jakarta Plant produces tablets, coated
tablets, capsules, granules, dry syrup, eye drops, creams, antibiotics and
injections. This unit is the only drug factory in Indonesia that has been
assigned by the government to produce narcotic drugs. The Bandung Plant
produces raw materials for quinine and its derivatives, rifampicin, an original
Indonesian medicine and intrauterine contraceptives. This production unit has
received US-FDA Approval. The Semarang Plant and Sarolangun Plant specialize in
the production of castor oil, vegetable oil and cosmetics.
The Watudakon plant in East Java is the
only factory that processes iodine mines in Indonesia. This unit produces
yodiurn and its salts, ferrous sulfate raw material as the main ingredient for
the manufacture of iron tablets for blood-added medicine, and yodiol soft
capsules which are the drug of choice for the prevention of goiter. The Tanjung
Morawa plant in Medan is devoted to supplying medicinal needs in the Sumatra
region. This unit produces tablets, creams and capsules.
Kimia farma has made various kinds of medicines such as ethical, raw materials, OTC herbal, cosmetics and body care. Kimia farma also has a pharmacy that is widely distributed throughout indonesia named PT. Kimia Farma apotek which functions to manage pharmacies owned by the company in an effort to increase sales contribution to increase the consolidated sales of PT. Kimia farma Tbk. Kimia farma also has a clinical laboratory that serves examinations on their own request, examinations at the request of doctors, medical check ups, industrial microbiology examinations, and referral examinations.
